After attending London’s Drama Centre (whose alums include Michael Fassbender and Tom Hardy), Emilia was cast as Queen Daenerys Targaryen on HBO’s award-winning series Game of Thrones. “I put the blond wig on and it’s not me, it’s Daenerys, and whatever fear and whatever sort of extreme emotion that I’m feeling as an actor - it’s just brilliant for transferring into Daenerys.”
